| On the same day that Andrew’s daughter Ava was undergoing brain surgery, he was rushed to another hospital with a spinal injury. He was partially paralyzed. “Though both Ava and I were told we’d be exceedingly limited for the rest of our lives, I knew our stories were just beginning,” Andrew says. He couldn’t yet walk, but set their sights on achieving a Trifecta together. They did it. “Little did we know that this pact would be the cornerstone of what would become our national charity, Ava’s Avengers,” Andrew said. The charity has since grown throughout the Spartan, DEKA, and Tough Mudder communities.
